A Talent for White Papers

I somehow managed to get through four-years of college without ever having to write a serious research paper and was well into my professional life before tackling one. Much to my surprise, researching and writing white papers and reports turned out to be something I’m both good at and enjoy. I especially like the research portion. In this instance, the data is all original, gathered through a national survey that I promoted through email and social campaigns. The findings were so interesting and extensive that I was able to create a second eBook from the one survey.

Give People What They Want … Original Content

“What Dental Patients Want” is one of the two or three most downloaded reports that I’ve researched and written. A perennial favorite with decision makers in a key target market, the data in this biannual report is refreshed through regular consumer surveys sent to 10,000 patients who recently visited the dentist. This report - promoted through email campaigns, digital ads, webinars, etc. - has helped generate thousands of leads and hundreds of sales.

Finding the Right Story to Tell

A lot of writers don’t enjoy working on white papers. I get it. They can be monsters. Pouring through reams and reams of data isn’t everybody’s idea of fun. Personally, I get off on the challenge.

Typically, I spend far more time analyzing the findings than I do drafting the actual report. This upfront effort pays off by helping me find the hidden gems within the research. Uncovering correlations others might miss enables me to present the driest of research in ways that hold the reader’s interest while guiding them to the conclusions that best serve my clients.
